Le Moyne women’s basketball takes down Sacred Heart, now 3-0 in NEC play

Fairfield, Conn. – The Le Moyne College women’s basketball team bested the defending NEC Tournament Champions Sacred Heart on Monday at SHU’s William H. Pitt Center by a score of 60-56 to improve their conference record to 3-0.

Sacred Heart, which had won each of its first three NEC contests this season, drops to 9-9 overall and 3-1 in NEC play.

Following Central Connecticut State’s loss to Merrimack on Monday, Le Moyne is now the only NEC women’s basketball team still unbeaten in conference play.

Le Moyne and Sacred Heart were tied 42-42 after three quarters, then the ‘Phins outscored the Pioneers by a tally of 18-14 in the final 10 minutes of action.

Four Le Moyne players scored in double figures on Monday, led by sophomore guard Sierra Linnin (Valley Cottage, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) who provided a game-high 14 points with the help of three first-half three-pointers. Linnin logged a season-high 38 minutes during the win.

Sophomore guard Kaia Goode (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) also played 38 minutes while contributing 13 points on 50% shooting from the field and four rebounds.

Junior forward Brianna Williams (Brampton, Ontario/Southwest Academy/Hartford) registered her first career double-double against the Pios. Williams scored a career-best 12 points for the second consecutive game and she pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds in a season-high 33 minutes played.

Fifth-year guard Lyoya Baker (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) also scored in double figures with 10 points, five rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and a steal. Baker scored eight of her points during the second half, including six in the fourth quarter.

Redshirt-junior forward Haedyn Roberts (Holland Patent, N.Y./Holland Patent) added seven points and five rebounds, shooting 5-6 from the line to improve her free-throw percentage to 87%. Graduate guard Sajada Bonner led Sacred Heart in scoring with 13 points while reigning NEC Player of the Year Ny’Ceara Pryor tallied 12 points, a…
