List of best travel spots for 2024 includes Upstate New York

Upstate New York is the place to be in the new year, at least according to one travel list.

Condé Nast Traveler recently released their list of the 24 best places to go in 2024 and included places from across the globe in countries like Greece, Hungary, and Japan. They also listed Upstate New York and its four-season appeal and a chance to get away from it all as a top notch destination.

The New York State Park system will celebrate 100 years in 2024, making it a prime year to catch a community celebration or special performance, especially in the Hudson Valley, Condé Nast writes. Sculpture park Storm King Art Center will also debut its $45-million overhaul to the grounds in the new year, complete with a new visitors center.

They also highlight Hudson Valley hospitality with the bucolic lodging at Habitas-on-Hudson, Inness, and Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collection.

Head even further Upstate to the Adirondacks, the other region featured in the national publication’s write up. The Adirondacks will be in the path of totality of April’s solar eclipse and from viewing parties to wide-open fields, and the EclipseADK is helping visitors find total eclipse of the park from viewing parties to open meadows perfect to watch the celestial display.

Outdoor enthusiasts can take advantage of the multi-use Adirondack Rail Trail covering 34 miles between Lake Placid, Ray Brook, Saranac Lake, Lake Clear, and Tupper Lake that will be open all year. Need more of a thrill? Whiteface Mountain is introducing “The Notch” for the 2023/2024 ski season to make it easier for skiers to travel to and from the two separated sections of the mountain.

Lodging recommendations include Lodge at Schroon Lake, which just underwent an extensive renovation with 116 guest rooms, suites, private cabins, two-bedroom lake view chalets, and a glamping site.
