When the Buffalo Bills faced off against the Miami Dolphins in Week 4, Buffalo only punted the ball two times in their 48-20 rout of Miami.
Mixed in with the punts were six touchdowns, two field goals and 414 total yards of offense. Much has changed for both teams since their initial meeting, but safety Jevon Holland did not want to give Buffalo too much credit for their victory earlier in the season. In a scrum with the media, Holland said Miamiโs struggles against Buffalo were due to the team still learning Vic Fangioโs defense.
โWhat we need to do better? Probably win the game,โ Holland told the media. โLast game was just early in the season so (we were) still trying to figure out the defense.โ
As for what he saw from the Bills in their blowout win?
โIt wasnโt anything too crazy,โ Holland added. โWeโve moved past it and fixed what we needed to so Iโm looking forward to playing them again. Itโs going to be a fun game. Thereโs a lot riding on it, but just like any other game.โ
Instead of giving Buffaloโs offense credit for handling Miami, Holland made an excuse for Miamiโs defense. It probably falls short of bulletin board material, but itโs still a bold statement to make as some would argue that Miami is still figuring out the defense after allowing 56 points to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17.
