Missing 9-year-old girl found safe, in good health; suspect in custody

Update at 6:52 p.m.: Charlotte E. Sena. a missing 9-year-old girl from Saratoga County, has been found in good health, according to a news release Monday from state police.

A suspect is in custody and the investigation is ongoing, they said. Troopers said more information will be released.

The Amber Alert was canceled at 6:45 p.m.

Gansevoort, N.Y. โ€” More than 400 police officers, firefighters and other certified search and rescue personnel are looking for Charlotte E. Sena, a 9-year-old girl who went missing Saturday night in a state park in Saratoga County.

The search has expanded over 46 linear miles with law enforcement agencies, private search and rescue groups and 34 volunteer fire departments searching for Sena, state police spokesperson Trooper Stephanie Oโ€™Neil said in a news release Monday afternoon.

The search is a 24-hour operation. A flight restriction also has been issued by the Federal Aviation Administration over Moreau Lake State Park in Gansevoort so search aircraft can operate safely, she said.

State police issued an Amber Alert Sunday for Charlotte, who was last seen at a camp site in the park around 6:15 p.m. Saturday. Law enforcement search efforts began around 7 p.m. Saturday and are continued today.

The girl was riding her bicycle with her cousins around a loop at the park, and she decided to ride the loop an additional time by herself, Gov. Kathy Hochul told reporters at a news briefing at the park Sunday afternoon.

When about 10 minutes passed and Charlotte didnโ€™t return from her ride, her parents started looking for her, Oโ€™Neil said.

Charlotte was with her family for a camping weekend at the park. They live in the nearby town of Greenfield in Saratoga County where Charlotte is a fourth-grader.
