When owner Matthew Hole first saw the home at 21 Chipmunk Ln. in Greene, he loved the privacy the property affords, while also being close to modern amenities. There is almost 24 acres here with walking paths throughout, surrounding this secluded estate.
“You look over the whole valley here,” Hole said.
The pastoral property paired with the Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired home design were what captivated Hole to purchase the home.
This Chenango County home’s unique design idea is said to come from the previous owner, George Raymond owner of Raymond Forklifts and prominent Upstate NY businessman. Raymond is rumored to have had a huge part in engineering the design and layout, adding certain features so he could keep an eye the Raymond Corporation in the valley below.
Hidden features in the home will be yours to discover within the built-in storage and secret compartments in almost every room of the house. No space is wasted here, Hole said.
Floor-to-ceiling windows fill the home with sunlight and are a perfect place to watch the sun rise and set. Winter time however, is when the owner finds it the most magical.
“You just watch the snow come down; it’s very peaceful, very quiet. It’s almost like a utopia,” he said.

Spending time in the downstairs rec room is likely where you would find the him. The cozy fireplace, pool table, and built-in wine fridge make it a great place to relax and unwind.
The guest wing, or “kids wing” as Hole called it, has its own bathroom and close access to the great room, giving everyone their own private space to chill out.

“You get all the different colored leaves and sitting on the sofa you get to watch all the amber colors,” Hole said.
