New York State Fair surpasses half a million in attendance on eighth day

Geddes, N.Y. — More than half a million people have gone through the New York State Fair’s gates this year.

It took eight days to reach the half-million mark. Total attendance now stands at 508,941.

Wednesday’s attendance of 46,517 lags behind last year’s Day 8, which was 68,010, but total attendance is still outpacing last year.

Thursday is Dairy Day and Armed Forces Day at the fair. Veterans will be honored with a ceremony, parade and a helicopter flyover and several events and activities throughout the day will showcase the state’s dairy industry.

The fair continues through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4. The midway is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day of the fair except for Labor Day when it closes at 9 p.m.
