Mexico, N.Y. — An Oswego county teacher was arrested Wednesday for stealing over $4,000 from the district, authorities said.
William J. Fisher, 72, of Fulton worked for CiTi BOCES in Mexico and was supposed to give students tutoring sessions and work packets, state police said in a news release.
Between January and September of 2022 an audit found he did not provide three tutoring sessions to students as he was supposed to, troopers said.
During an internal audit it was found Fisher falsified his time sheets, paying himself an extra $4,409, according to a news release from the state comptroller’s office.
Fischer was suspended from the district, troopers said. He was arrested and charged with third-degree grand larceny, three counts of first-degree falsifying business records, and fourth-degree corrupting the government, troopers said.
