Person ditches car after crash in Syracuse, officers searching for driver, police say

Syracuse, N.Y. — A person fled the scene of an accident on foot Saturday night after two cars collided in Syracuse, police said.

Officers are attempting to identify the driver because a loaded gun magazine was found in the car, said Lt. Matthew Malinowski, a Syracuse police spokesperson. Police traced the car back to the owner, but the owner did not say who was driving it, he said.

Around 11:24 p.m. Saturday, a Nissan Rogue was driving east on Grant Boulevard when the driver made a U-Turn near Village Drive, Malinowski said. A 2013 Dodge heading the opposite way collided with the car, he said.
