Syracuse, N.Y. — Almost two weeks after a crash involving a Syracuse police car, what happened that night remains a mystery.
The Syracuse Police Department is still not answering basic questions about the crash between the patrol car and another vehicle.
The patrol car ended up on its roof when it and a car collided at about 8:19 p.m. July 29 at Midland Avenue and Kennedy Street. The crash also damaged a utility pole and brought down power lines.
On Aug. 1, Lt. Matthew Malinowski, a spokesperson for the department, identified the officer as Michael Jensen. He and another person were taken to a hospital, he said.
The department released no other details of the accident.
The department has declined to answer questions from Syracuse.com | The Post-Standard on what happened that night.
The questions, emailed on Friday and Wednesday, include:
- Who struck who?
- Was the officer going to a call? Did the vehicle have lights, sirens on?
- Have any tickets been issued?
The department spokesperson also did not respond to a phone call Wednesday afternoon.
