Retired Central NY teacher competes on ‘The Price is Right’: How did she do?

Come on down! A Central New York woman got a chance to win big prizes on “The Price is Right.”

Linda Kennedy, a retired teacher from Oneida, N.Y., competed on the popular game show Thursday. She identified herself as being from “Syracuse,” but later shouted out Clinton Elementary School in Oneida County, where she previously taught.

So how did she do?

Kennedy first made it to Contestants Row, and advanced to the stage alongside host Drew Carey when she successfully bid $1,201 on a telescope. The actual retail price was $1,870, but she was the closest contestant because she bid $1 more than the next highest guess of $1,200.

“I’m dancing and chatting with everybody,” Kennedy told the Utica TV station, “and they’re trying to get the crowd going. And then they take you into a room. 10 people at a time, and they interview you. You talk for like 20 to 30 seconds. Where are you from? Why are you here? Do you have a story? …They use that [information] to decide if you’re going to get on.”

Previously hosted by Bob Barker, “The Price is Right” is a…
