Scenes from after Syracuse’s St. Patrick’s Parade: ‘Best day EVER!’ (video)

Syracuse, N.Y. — Thousands of Central New Yorkers packed bars and the Marriott Syracuse Downtown before, during and after Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Parade to celebrate today’s Irish holiday and just decent weather in general.

The first patrons walked into Kitty Hoynes Irish Pub before the posted opening at 9 a.m. By 5 p.m., they were joined by dozens of others. That was the case at pubs throughout Armory Square and the nearby Tipperary Hill neighborhood.

“This is the best day EVER!” said Glen Masner who spent the morning, noon and evening in the same spot at Kitty’s bar listening to live music and sipping Guinness. “You couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.”

The 50-plus degree temperatures and relatively clear skies helped Salina Street become the most crowded in recent years.
