Skaneateles coach Dan Mulroy said his girls volleyball team has become accustomed to playing tightly contested opening sets.

That was the case in the Lakers’ first set against Phoenix on Thursday, but Skaneateles did enough to pull off a 3-0 sweep of the Firebirds.
