Steve Martin and Martin Short are returning to Syracuse in the spring for an evening of comedy — and bluegrass music.
The “Only Murders in the Building” co-stars will bring their new tour, “The Dukes of Funnytown,” to the Landmark Theatre on Friday, May 3. The show will begin at 8 p.m. with special guests Woody Platt & The Bluegrass Gentlemen.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster.
Martin and Short, who became friends after co-starring in 1986′s “The Three Amigos,” frequently tour together with a mix of comedy and music, including Martin performing on the banjo. The pair previously performed at the Landmark Theatre in 2019 and will soon take the Turning Stone Event Center stage on Nov. 12.
“The more you get to know someone, the more you relax with that person. From the get-go, I think Steve and I had very similar approaches to working,” Short told syracuse.com | The Post-Standard in 2019. “We really haven’t changed that much, but doing the show gives us a shorthand… for the comedy and come to understand each other.”
Martin and Short are known for a long list of movie and TV roles, including “Saturday Night Live,” “Father of the Bride,” the comedy special “An Evening You Will Forget For the Rest of Your Life,” and “Only Murders in the Building,” which Hulu recently renewed for a fourth season. Martin also starred in “The Jerk,” “Roxanne,” “Parenthood,” “Cheaper By the Dozen,” “Pink Panther,” “My Blue Heaven” and “Planes, Trains and Automobiles,” while Short’s credits include “Jiminy Glick,” “The Santa Clause 3,” “Clifford,” “Get Over It” and “Innerspace.”
