Super Bowl 2024: Who are the oldest, youngest coaches in the NFL

Super Bowl 58 between the Kansas Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers is a matchup between one younger coach, 44-year-old Kyle Shananan of the 49ers, and one older coach, 65-year-old Andy Reid of the Chiefs.

Andy Reid is now the oldest head coach in the NFL after their respective teams moved on from Bill Belichick (71) and Pete Carroll (72).

That leaves five other coaches who are 60 or older. John Harbaugh is the next oldest coach at 61 years old. He is the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, the team Andy Reid and the Chiefs beat in the AFC Championship.

The four coaches who are 60 years old are Mike McCarthy of the Dallas Cowboys, Todd Bowles of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Sean Payton of the Denver Broncos and newly hired Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh, John Harbaughโ€™s brother.

On the younger side, Kyle Shanahan is eight years older than the youngest NFL coach, newly hired Mike Macdonald of the Seattle Seahawks. At 36 years old, Macdonald is only a year older than fellow first-time head coach Jerod Mayo of the New England Patriots.

Three other coaches are 38 years old. Sean McVay of the Los Angeles Rams, Shane Steichen of the Indianapolis Colts and Kevin Oโ€™Connell of the Minnesota Vikings. Five other coaches are 40 or younger.
