Both teams earned non-conference wins against a pair of SEC opponents earlier in the week. Syracuse (5-2) ran away from cold-shooting LSU, 80-57 on Tuesday, while Virginia put the defensive clamps on nationally ranked Texas A&M, 59-47 a day later.
