Syracuse basketball player Justin Taylor enters NCAA transfer portal

Syracuse, N.Y. – Syracuse sophomore Justin Taylor has entered his name in the NCAA’s transfer portal.

The news of Taylor’s decision was first reported by Joe Tipton of on3.com.

The transfer portal opened Monday for players on teams not participating in a post-season tournament. The portal remains open through May 1.

Taylor, a 6-foot-6 sophomore, started every game this past season for Syracuse. A shooting guard/small forward, Taylor spent the entire year out of position at the power forward spot. He averaged 5.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.

A native of Charlottesville, Va., Taylor came to Syracuse after spending his senior year of high school at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

He appeared in 29 games as a freshman, starting two. He averaged 4.2 points per game. He connected on 39.3% of his 3-point attempts in his first year at SU, but he struggled with his outside shot this past season as his shooting percentage dipped to 30.1%.

Taylor will have two years’ of eligibility remaining at his next school.
