Syracuse, N.Y. — Ibn McDaniels, a recruit from New Jersey, verbally committed to Syracuse on Saturday, bringing the number of players in the Orangeโs Class of 2024 to 20 incoming freshmen.
McDaniels has not yet been rated by the three major recruiting websites (247 Sports, On3Sports and Rivals).
A wide receiver and defensive back, McDaniels plays for Elizabeth High School in Fran Brownโs home state of New Jersey. He is listed by Rivals at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds.
He announced his commitment on X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter.
According to NJ.com, McDaniels caught 44 passes for 744 yards and eight touchdowns last season, while making 34 tackles and pulling in three interceptions. His team finished 3-8.
Prior to McDanielsโ commitment, the recruiting website 247 Sports ranked Syracuse as having the No. 37 recruiting class in the country, according to its composite rankings. Syracuse is also ranked by 247 as having the No. 25 transfer class in the country.
The website On3.com gives Syracuse the No. 52 recruiting class and the No. 11 transfer class.
