Syracuse, N.Y. — Tied at 8 with under two minutes to go in regulation, Syracuse women’s lacrosse passed the ball back and forth behind and around Maryland’s goal.
There wasn’t a shot to be had, as the Terrapins defense held steady to make sure that if they were to score again in regulation, it would be a winning goal.
Maryland had locked things down after scoring the game-tying goal with just over 8 minutes left in the game. It didn’t allow a single shot by the Orange in that frame.
The Terps couldn’t net a goal before the end of regulation, or in the first 3-minute, sudden-death overtime.

Adamson led scoring for Syracuse (1-2) with two goals on three shots and an assist. Emma Ward had one goal and two assists, and Emma Tyrell and Natalie Smith each had two goals.
Sweitzer made 10 saves and had a 52.6% save percentage.
The first half of play was significantly slower than the second for both teams.
