Update: Hamilton College lifts shelter in place order, no shooter found

Update: At 9:26 p.m., the college lifted the shelter in place order.

Clinton, N.Y. — Hamilton College officials Sunday night ordered students and staff to shelter in place after receiving reports of an armed assailant at the college.

The first alert was sent out at 6:38 p.m.

At 7:37 p.m., the college sent out a message that no active shooter had been found. However, the college told people on campus to continue to shelter in place.

At 8:30 p.m., college officials sent out a message that police are continuing to search Kirner Johnson and surrounding buildings.

“No threat has been identified, although everyone on campus should continue to shelter in place,” the college said.

At 9:26 p.m., the college lifted the shelter in place order:

“All clear. Law enforcement has secured Kirner Johnson and all buildings in the area. The shelter in place is now lifted.”
