A report from the National Weather Service was issued on Thursday at 7:46 p.m. for heavy snow until 9:45 p.m. for Cayuga and Oswego counties.
“At 7:38 p.m., a narrow band of heavy snow extended from Fair Haven in Northern Cayuga eastward through southern Oswego County,” says the weather service.
The warning is for Oswego, Fulton, Fair Haven Beach State Park, Central Square, Battle Island State Park, Hastings, Scriba, Volney, Constantia, West Monroe, Palermo, Sterling, Phoenix, Minetto, Mexico, Cleveland, Hannibal, Parish, South Hannibal and Amboy Center. This includes Interstate 81 between exits 32 and 33.
The weather service states, “Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination.”
