The National Weather Service issued a report at 11:13 p.m. on Sunday for heavy snow until Monday at 12:45 a.m. for Oneida, Cayuga, Onondaga and Madison counties.
“At 11:12 p.m., a band of heavy snow was along a line extending from 6 miles northeast of Taberg to Chimney Bluffs State Park and moving southeast at 20 MPH,” states the weather service.
Locations impacted by the warning include Onondaga, Syracuse, Utica, Clay, Rome, Cicero, Auburn, De Witt, Lysander and Sullivan. This includes the following highway exits: interstate 90 between 31 and 39. New York Interstate 81 near 16A, and between 17 and 31.
According to the weather service, “Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination. Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this band of heavy snow. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads may lead to accidents.”
