#22 Bowdoin clips #7 William Smith 1-0 in OT

The seventh-ranked William Smith College soccer team was edged by 22nd-ranked Bowdoin 1-0 in overtime in the second round of the NCAA Division III Womenโ€™s Soccer Championship on Cozzens Field this afternoon.

Mary Rainey scored the game-winning goal in the 105th minute to send Bowdoin to the third round. Charlotte Iannone played all 110 minutes in goal for the Polar Bears and made five saves.

Kirsten Nelsonย played all 110 minutes in goal for the Herons and also made five saves.

FOR THE RECORD

  • Bowdoin is now 11-4-5 on the season.
  • William Smith concludes its season with a 14-1-4 overall record.
  • This was the first meeting between the Herons and Polar Bears.
