Bath police officer hurt during highway incident: Driver may faces charges

A Bath Police officer sustained minor injuries on Saturday morning while responding to a highway crash. The incident occurred on Interstate 86, between Exit 38 and Exit 39, when a 2022 Mazda CX5 crashed into a guardrail around 10:23 a.m. New York State Troopers initially responded and requested assistance from the Bath Police Department for traffic control.

During the operation, a 2017 Nissan Rogue collided with a stationary Bath Police vehicle at the crash site. The officer involved was promptly taken to Ira Davenport Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The crash highlights the risks law enforcement officers face while managing traffic and responding to incidents on highways.

The driver of the Nissan Rogue may face charges in connection with the incident. The case underscores the importance of driver attentiveness, especially near accident scenes where emergency responders are present.
