A 56-year-old Florida man sustained severe head and facial injuries while bicycling near Taughannock Falls State Park in the Town of Ulysses, as reported by New York State Police.
The man, whose bicycle flipped after an object got lodged in its front wheel, was airlifted for treatment on Wednesday evening.
State troopers were dispatched to the scene shortly before 8 p.m. on receiving a report of a serious cyclist injury.
The man, who was riding eastbound on Taughannock Park Road when the accident occurred, was wearing a helmet at the time. He was subsequently transported to Robert Packer Hospital for further medical attention.
