The Buffalo Bills announced Tuesday that they have promoted linebackers coach Bobby Babich to defensive coordinator.
Babich has spent seven years in the Bills organization after joining head coach Sean McDermott’s staff in 2017. He started as the team’s assistant defensive backs coach before getting promoted to the team’s safeties coach in 2018. Prior to the 2022 season, Babich was named the team’s linebackers coach.
Other teams around the NFL had interest in hiring Babich as their DC, including the Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, and Miami Dolphins, but he stayed in Buffalo.
It remains to be seen if McDermott, who called defensive plays in 2023, will give Babich that responsibility.
