The body of 37-year-old Robert McKeen was discovered Monday evening under the Cecil A. Malone Bridge in Ithaca, near a shallow creek bank. Emergency personnel found McKeen deceased upon their arrival. The Ithaca Police Department, led by Chief Tom Kelly, confirmed McKeen’s identity and indicated that his death currently does not seem suspicious.
Officials noted that further details regarding McKeen’s cause of death await toxicology test results. McKeen had a known history of overdoses, with evidence suggesting recent substance use found at the scene. This information hints at possible factors contributing to his untimely death.
The discovery was made after police were alerted to an unconscious man, later identified as McKeen, who was not breathing. The Ithaca Fire Department’s extrication team was called to assist in retrieving McKeen’s body, initially reported to be in cardiac arrest.
