The Victor boys basketball team notched their second straight sectional title on Saturday night at the Blue Cross Arena, knocking off undefeated Greece Athena, 70-61, in the Class AA finals.
The Blue Devils trailed 21-16 after eight minutes but jumped in front 35-28 at halftime. Greece Athena outscored Victor in the third quarter to take a 47-45 lead, but the Blue Devils exploded for 25 fourth-quarter points to pull away.
Garrett Clar scored 23 points and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. His teammate Nick Leonard matched him with 23 points, while Cam Ryan and Griffen Hopkins split 20.
Victor improved to 16-8 and will face the Section VI representative in the Far West Regionals on Saturday, March 9, at Buffalo State College.
