The Sands Family YMCA, a sprawling 75,000-square-foot facility, officially commenced its operations on Monday in Canandaigua.
A substantial donation of $13.5 million from the Sands Family was pivotal in realizing the construction of the North Road establishment.
Further contributions encompassed $1 million in federal backing and an additional $1 million from entrepreneur and philanthropist Brian Prince.
The state-of-the-art facility occupies 13 acres generously provided by Constellation Brands, ensuring the YMCA’s continued presence within the city bounds of Canandaigua.
Richard Sands, Executive Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for Constellation Brands, emphasized the family’s commitment to fostering secure environments for local families, underscoring the significance of the YMCA to the Canandaigua community.
