The Canandaigua Town Board is set to hold a public hearing on the rezoning of land for a proposed indoor sports facility by Evan Gilbert. Scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at the Town Hall, the hearing will consider changing the zoning of Gilbert’s property at 2625 County Road 22 to facilitate the development of the sports complex. Interested parties can also attend the meeting online with prior registration.
Gilbert’s vision includes the construction of two 14,300-square-foot buildings equipped with synthetic turf to support local sports teams. Aimed at providing a space for lacrosse, soccer, and baseball teams to practice during bad weather and off-seasons, the facility promises to be a boon for community sports. The town has reviewed the project, finding it environmentally sound and in line with the comprehensive plan.
Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the hearing or contact Supervisor Jared Simpson for more information about the rezoning and the facility’s impact on the community.
