State officials say a correction officer at the Cayuga Correctional Facility has been arrested for smuggling drugs and other contraband into the prison there.

In a press release, Acting DOCCS Commissioner Daniel Martuscello said Timothy Paoff was arrested for smuggling drugs and a cellphone into the Cayuga prison.

โ€œCO Paoff was subjected to an Office of Special Investigations K9 search and subsequent physical search,โ€ Martuscello said. โ€œSix large bundles of marijuana were recovered from his personal property.โ€

Heโ€™s been charged with official misconduct, bribe receiving, and promoting prison contraband. Officials said additional charges are possible.

Martuscello emphasized that illegal activity by anyone in a DOCCS facility or office will not be tolerated.
