The Cayuga Economic Development Agency (CEDA) is facing a period of uncertainty after the abrupt dismissals of two consecutive executive directors.
Michael Miller, who had served as the executive director for over a year, was unexpectedly terminated in August, as first reported by The Citizen.
Miller, responsible for reporting on the agencyโs progress, was let go due to a โmisalignment with the board,โ according to new reporting by The Citizen. His predecessor, Bradley Broadwell, whose tenure was just two months, was dismissed without clarification.
These surprise ousters have sparked questions and concerns regarding the future of CEDA and its efficacy as a partner in community economic development strategies. In response, an ad hoc committee has been established to assess the status and direction of the organization.
The committee is currently working to stabilize the situation, ensuring job completions and staff understanding of their roles, but no decisive plans have been made regarding the agencyโs course forward.
