The New York State Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) have announced a community session in Clifton Springs to discuss the G.W. Lisk site’s soil and groundwater contamination. The meeting is scheduled for January 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Clifton Springs Library.
State experts will be present to provide information about the ongoing investigation and remedial efforts at the South Street property. They will also address actions taken so far and engage in one-on-one discussions to answer residents’ questions.
The G.W. Lisk Company, five years ago, voluntarily joined the Brownfield Cleanup Program to conduct necessary investigations and remedial activities at the site. A recent review of the Remedial Investigation Report completed in November by the DEC and DOH highlighted significant threats due to the presence of volatile organic compounds in the soil and groundwater, exceeding state standards.
This community availability session represents a crucial step in keeping the residents informed and involved in the environmental health matters of their community. The session aims to provide clarity and address concerns regarding the contamination and the measures being taken to mitigate its effects.
