In Schuyler County a contractor faces felony grand larceny charges after allegedly scamming a homeowner out of $13,000.
New York State Police report that David Apgar, 31, of Breesport, was hired in October 2019 to remodel a home in the town of Dix but failed to complete the work. Despite receiving a substantial deposit, Apgar, owner of Apgar Construction LLC, is accused of not showing up to fulfill the contract.
The arrest comes nearly five years after the initial agreement, highlighting the lengthy investigative process. Apgar was arraigned at the Schuyler County Jail following his arrest.
The case serves as a reminder for homeowners to exercise caution and conduct thorough checks when hiring contractors for home improvement projects.
