Cornell residence hall burglary under investigation

An early morning break-in at a Cornell University residence hall has prompted an alert from the campus police.

The Cornell University Police Department (CUPD) reported responding to a burglary at around 4:20 a.m. Sunday, with the incident believed to have occurred approximately an hour earlier. The residence, located on McGraw Place on Ithacaโ€™s East Hill, was entered unlawfully through an unlocked window.

The intruders made off with a PlayStation 5 console, exiting through a side door. Authorities have released a description of one suspect: a male around 6โ€™1โ€ tall, with a slender build, seen wearing black pants, a blue t-shirt, and white sneakers. The direction in which the subjects fled remains unknown, and the investigation continues as CUPD gathers more details on the suspects.

Cornell Police are urging anyone with information about the burglary to come forward. Witnesses or individuals with any relevant information are encouraged to contact the Cornell University Public Safety Communications Center at 607-255-1111. The community has been reminded to ensure the security of their residences by keeping doors and windows locked.
