Kaylee G. Brooks, a 25-year-old resident of Corning, was apprehended by authorities following the theft of a vehicle in Corning.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, December 10, began when Brooks allegedly stole a 2020 Chevrolet Trax from the Quail Bay apartments.
The Corning City Police received a report of the stolen vehicle at around 1:50 a.m. and later spotted it on North Hamilton Street in Painted Post at approximately 5 a.m. This sighting led to a police chase that extended across multiple towns.
The pursuit started in the town of Erwin on State Route 415 and continued through the towns of Campbell and Bath, ultimately concluding on Irish Hill Road.
Brooks was arrested at the scene and charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a class D felony. After processing at the Corning Police Department, she was transferred to the Steuben County Jail for CAP court.
Brooks was later released without bail following her court summons. In this multi-jurisdictional effort, the Corning Police Department received assistance from the Steuben County Sheriffโs Office road patrol division, highlighting the coordinated response to the vehicle theft and ensuing chase.
