David Peterson shines, Brandon Nimmo homers twice as Mets roll past Brewers to even series

The New York Mets (36-43) got back in the win column on Tuesday night at Citi Field with a 7-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers (41-38), thanks to a terrific pitching performance from David Peterson in his return to the big leagues and a multi-homer game from Brandon Nimmo.

David Peterson tossed six shutout frames after a rocky first inning while allowing five hits and striking out five batters. He picked up his second win of the season and may have earned another start with how much the pitching has struggled.

Brandon Nimmo crushed a pair of home runs, his first multi-homer game since 2021. Francisco Lindor and Daniel Vogelbach also went deep, while Tommy Pham added a run-scoring double. Lindorโ€™s long ball was the 200th of his career.

The Mets will send Kodai Senga to the mound on Wednesday for the third game of this four-game series. The first pitch is slated for 7:10 p.m.
