Deputies: Newark man arrested for DWI after Lyons crash tries to escape custody

Deputies announced the arrest of a Newark man following an investigation into an overnight crash in the town of Lyons.

Around 8:30 p.m. Gavin Norsen, 20, was found to have been intoxicated during a crash that happened in Lyons. He refused to submit to a chemical test, and even tried to slip out of handcuffs while in custody and being processed.

He was eventually taken into custody after a brief physical altercation with deputies. Now, Norsen has been charged with DWI, obstruction, and other traffic violations related to the accident.

No injuries were reported and the accident itself was described as a property damage crash by authorities.

The charges will be answered at a later date.
