Dickens Christmas celebrates 30th anniversary with festive schedule in Skaneateles

The historic village of Skaneateles is once again hosting the beloved Dickens Christmas for its 30th edition, bringing the charm of Charles Dickensโ€™ โ€œA Christmas Carolโ€ to life.

From today until Christmas, visitors can immerse themselves in the festive spirit with activities scheduled every Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., and a special limited showing on Christmas Eve from noon to 2:30 p.m. โ€œWeโ€™re thrilled to celebrate our 30th anniversary here,โ€ said producing director Jim Greene, who also plays the role of Dickens. A highlight of the festivities will be the Christmas Ball hosted by โ€œMayor Fezziwigโ€ on December 10 at the Sinclair of Skaneateles.

This yearโ€™s Dickens Christmas, produced by Scarlett Rat Entertainment and presented by various local organizations, boasts a range of attractions. The season kicks off with the โ€œWorldโ€™s Smallest Christmas Paradeโ€ on November 24, followed by daily events like the Midday Revels carol sing-along, trunk shows featuring interactive storytelling, horse-drawn wagon and carriage rides, and numerous musical and dance performances. Other notable events include Fezziwigโ€™s Christmas Ball with English country dancing, a snowman-building contest, and โ€œA Christmas Story โ€” The Radio Play.โ€ Attendees can also enjoy free refreshments such as roasted chestnuts and eggnog, while children can delight in treats from Father Christmas and holiday stories from Mother Goose.

Tickets for the various events are priced affordably and are available at the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce and other village locations.
