Driver in fatal hit-and-run in Onondaga had BAC five-times legal limit

Joshua Schiano, 23, is facing multiple charges, including vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of a fatal accident, after fatally striking 22-year-old Madison Faltisco on Route 57 in Clay, New York, on June 8.

Schiano had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .43 at the time, which is more than five times higher than the stateโ€™s legal limit for driving while intoxicated (DWI), set at .08. According to the Cleveland Clinic, a BAC level over .40 is potentially fatal.

Onondaga County District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick reported that Schiano claims to have no memory of the events on the night of the accident. The case, which also involves charges of second-degree vehicular manslaughter, will go before a grand jury next week.
