Dylan Cozens’ hat trick leads Sabres over Capitals for third straight win

Dylan Cozens netted his first career hat trick and added an assist to lead the Buffalo Sabres past the Washington Capitals, 7-4, at KeyBank Center on Sunday afternoon for their third straight win. With the victory, Buffalo moved right back into the second wild-card spot with 66 points.

The game was knotted at two after the first 20 minutes, but the Sabres scored four second-period goals and added another one in the final period to seal the victory.

Tage Thompson netted his 40th goal of the season, becoming the first Sabres player to reach 40 goals in a single season since Jeff Skinner (40) in 2018-19. Jeff Skinner (25), Zemgus Girgensons (8), and Vinnie Hinostroza (1) also found the back of the net. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen started between the pipes and turned aside 26-of-30 shots.
