An early morning fire in the town of Bath on Thursday, February 15th, resulted in the complete destruction of a garage and its contents, according to Bath Volunteer Fire Fighters. The fire, which ignited around 3 a.m. on Davenport Hill Road, was brought under control in less than an hour with the assistance of mutual aid from neighboring fire departments. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
A neighbor’s timely alert enabled firefighters to respond quickly to the blaze. Despite their efforts, a Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV), various tools, and other items stored inside the garage were lost to the fire. Fire officials have confirmed that the property was insured, providing some relief to the owners amidst the loss.
The Steuben County Fire Investigation Team is currently investigating the cause of the fire. The community is awaiting further details as the investigation proceeds, hoping for clarity on what sparked the destructive blaze.
