For the last two months we’ve been talking with candidates from across our coverage area about their respective races. While we weren’t able to coordinate any debates, a vast majority of candidates seeking office were willing to participate. Today, we spotlight one of the most-consequential races in the region.
Incumbent District Attorney Mark Sinkiewicz, a Democrat, is being challenged by Republican John Nabinger. While this isn’t the first time Nabinger has run for DA in Seneca County, it marks the first occasion where it’ll be a one-on-one contest.
The race ultimately comes down to experience, which each say leans in their favor. The Republican Nabinger touts his range of experience, working a majority of his career as a defense attorney and public defender, and how that would serve the prosecutors office well. Meanwhile, the Democratic Sinkiewicz says his 20+ years of experience prosecuting, working in Seneca County under Republican prosecutors are most important.
Check out both interviews with the candidates below before heading to the polls to cast your vote.
