Elmira sneaks past William Smith 3-1

The William Smith College hockey team was defeated by Elmira 3-1 in a New England Hockey Conference contest at The Murray Athletic Center this afternoon. ย The Herons are now 14-6-1 overall this season with a 9-4-1 mark in play.

Emma Fasoย scored for the Herons. Seniorย Annie Hauserย played all 60 minutes in goal and made 47 saves.

Emma Bradbury scored twice in the third period to lead Elmira. Emily Lenzen had two assists. Leonie Kuehberger stopped 25 shots as she earned the win in goal. With the weekend sweep, the Soaring Eagles are now 14-6-1 on the season with a 11-2-1 mark in conference play.

STREAKING

  • With a 3-for-3 effort on the penalty kill this afternoon, the Herons have gone 13 games without allowing a power-play goal. Opponents are 3-for-67 with the extra attacker against William Smith this season.
  • The loss snapped the Heronsโ€™ nine-game road winning streak.
