New York State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) that took place in Redfield, Oswego County.
According to troopers, Charles L. Gronau Jr., 59, of Lacona was driving a 2023 Can-Am Maverick X3 on Little John Drive near Blount Mills Drive at a high speed when he lost control during a curve and struck a tree.
The incident occurred just before 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
After hitting the tree, Gronau’s vehicle overturned onto its passenger side, partially ejecting him. Troopers noted that Gronau was not wearing a helmet or seatbelt at the time of the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene, marking a tragic end to the incident.
