The Lyons boys basketball team is headed to the New York State semifinals for the sixth time in program history after taking down Section VI’s Randolph, 61-44, in the Class C Far West Regional on Friday night at Buffalo State College.
It was a tight game for the first 16 minutes as the Lions led 24-22 at the break, but a Devyn Williams buzzer-beater at the end of the second quarter provided a spark for Lyons as they went on an 18-0 run to take a double-digit lead and never looked back, outscoring the Cardinals 37-22 in the second half.
Jamire Johnson led Lyons with a game-high 21 points. Stephen LeBrecht, Devyn Williams, and Dezmen Bell had 10 points apiece, while Jaheim Morris chipped in nine off the bench.

The Lions held Randolph’s top scorer Drew Hind to just 11 points, five of which came in the first quarter.
RADIO REPLAY: FL1’s Paul Russo and Kyle Evans had the call.
Lyons (23-2) will face Section IV’s Moravia or Section III’s Waterville in the New York State Class C semifinal on Friday, March 15, at Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls, with tipoff set for 8:45 p.m.
