Fugitive wanted for kidnapping, stealing Jeep, and other charges arrested after standoff in Cayuga County

In a joint operation the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and the Newark Police Department successfully apprehended Chad M. McDonald, a wanted felon suspected of kidnapping and other charges.

McDonald, who was found hiding in a residence in the town of Conquest, surrendered after a brief standoff with the deputies. The arrest came as part of an effort to locate McDonald, who faced charges including kidnapping, strangulation, robbery, and grand larceny from an incident in Wayne County.

During the investigation, authorities discovered not only the stolen red Jeep Renegade McDonald allegedly used but also located the original victim from Wayne County at the same address. It was revealed that McDonald had taken the victim there against her will, threatening violence and harm. Following the standoff, McDonald was transported to Newark PD and later remanded to Wayne County Jail, with an additional warrant for second-degree kidnapping issued in Cayuga County.

McDonald has been arrested multiple times by agencies in multiple counties in recent weeks. He was arraigned in CAP Court and is currently held at the Cayuga County Jail, awaiting a future court date in the Town of Conquest to address the charges against him.
