Generations Bank and It’s a Wonderful Life Museum announced that they will be holding a “Bells on the Bridge” ceremony on Bailey Bridge in honor of Menzo Case on Friday, December 8, to help kick-off the Annual It’s a Wonderful Life Festival—the ceremony will begin at 10 a.m.

The “Bells on the Bridge” concept was introduced by Menzo Case in December 2017, along with It’s a Wonderful Life cast members Karolyn Grimes (Zuzu Bailey), Carol Combs (Janie Bailey), Jimmy Hawkins (Tommy Bailey), and Jeanine Roose (“Young Violet”) to celebrate people who have impacted the lives of others. Visitors and residents can write messages and the names of their loved ones on a bell ornament to be placed along the Bridge Street Bridge, also known as Bailey Bridge—similar to the “Locks of Love” in Paris, France.
Menzo saw significant opportunities for creating landmarks in Seneca Falls inspired by the theme of bells and in September 2022, he unveiled Generations Bell Park located outside of Generations Bank Headquarters. Generations Bell Park is a permanent historic landmark featuring a collection of fully functional bells which pay tribute to historic businesses, movements, and other items of cultural significance related to Seneca Falls. One of the four functional bells is dedicated to the 75th Anniversary of the 1946 classic Christmas film, “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
“Menzo was the visionary behind several community initiatives, but Generations Bell Park was especially meaningful to him. He held a deep appreciation for bells due to the rich symbolism they embody and the connection they have to Seneca Falls. We’re grateful for his commitment to our community and welcome you to visit and admire his vision firsthand” said Derek Dyson, Chief Information Officer of Generations Bank.
