Geneva city officials are considering the development of a permanent, year-round facility for a local farmers market, a move that could significantly enhance the cityโs lakefront area.
A study, commissioned in 2023, outlines the potential for the Geneva Market Pavilion, with estimated costs ranging between $9.5 million and $11 million, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
This initiative follows the adoption of the Farmerโs Market and Lakefront Infrastructure Study by the City Council in December, focusing on identifying suitable locations for the market.
The market, a longstanding tradition held at Lakefront Park and previously at the Exchange Street parking lot, could see a new era with this dedicated space.
The study, conducted by Plan Architectural Studio, lays the groundwork for seeking grant funding and developing a comprehensive capital plan. Grants would be sought to make the plan come to life.
