Goodwill of the Finger Lakes is set to host its “Blue Friday” event on December 1, marking the second consecutive year for this initiative.
Scheduled to follow the major shopping days of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, Blue Friday offers shoppers a unique opportunity to save while supporting sustainable shopping practices. All Goodwill of the Finger Lakes stores will participate in this event, offering a 15 percent discount on the entire purchase for every customer.
Jennifer Boutte, Vice President of Community Engagement at Goodwill, highlights the significance of this event, emphasizing the appeal of second-hand shopping during the holiday season. She points out that shopping at Goodwill is not only a sustainable option that helps keep over 25 million pounds of items out of landfills annually but also a way to give back to the community. Blue Friday is Goodwill’s way of expressing gratitude to its customers and helping them save money during the festive period.
The impact of purchases at Goodwill extends beyond environmental benefits. Funds raised through retail sales support Goodwill’s mission-driven programs such as 988 and 211/LIFE LINE, Goodwill Vision Enterprises (formerly ABVI), and the Good Neighbor Program. These initiatives demonstrate Goodwill’s commitment to community support and environmental sustainability. Shoppers can visit any of the Finger Lakes Goodwill stores on December 1 to take advantage of the 15 percent discount. Store hours and additional information are available on the Goodwill of the Finger Lakes website.
