Hochul advocates for increased housing construction to alleviate affordability crisis

Addressing an ongoing affordability crisis in New York requires a significant expansion of housing options, said Gov. Kathy Hochul at the New York Building Congress on Wednesday.

Emphasizing housing as a fundamental issue for the state, Hochul stated that tackling it could help resolve a myriad of other pressing problems.

The governor, who earlier this year unsuccessfully sought a broad housing proposal aimed at constructing 800,000 new units within a decade, underlined the need to construct more housing of all types across the state to counterbalance supply-demand disparities.
